Some of us procrastinate, and some of us procrastinate a lot. This harms us in many ways. When we don’t get things done, the problem usually gets worse. Same with your teeth and dental visits! You may know that going to the dentist regularly will improve your oral health and thus your life many times over, yet – we procrastinate! Usually, we procrastinate because we fear something – the thing itself may be fearful, or we may have a fear of failure regarding the thing we are trying to do. Dental visits can be intimidating. The doctor is inside your mouth with a drill spinning at 350000 rpm. It’s a bit scary! But don’t let that make you procrastinate on dental visits. As we have said often, waiting worsens dental cavities and issues, not makes them better. 25% of adult Americans have NO TEETH. So the issue is important! One of the best ways to fight procrastination, besides keeping an appointment calendar, is to visualize yourself as a person who gets things done. By not identifying as a lazy procrastinator, but self-identifying as an effective person who gets jobs done, you will find it easier to actually do them. You may have to shift your identity, but it is a change in the right direction! -ProDentalFx, LLC
