Reasons We Ignore Our Teeth And Dentists
There are no actual good reasons to ignore your teeth! They are a part of the unified system called your body, and one of the most functional and beautiful. But according to the experts we ignore our teeth for several reasons. I am posting those reasons here for the reader to self-check; if you are avoiding the dentist, tackle the issue, because health and happiness depend on it. Here are the reasons (from Zoma Dental, https://bit.ly/3Ps2G8q )
1. I Feel No Pain – Teeth only have nerve endings inside their live core; the outer enamel feels no pain. By the time you are feeling pain the cavity causing it is already severe. Don’t wait to feel pain! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
2. Cost – By avoiding the dentist, you drive up the cost of the cure manyfold. Problems caught early are much less expensive to fix.
3. Anxiety – At our practice and hopefully others we do not treat you like a machine, but with empathy. A good dentist wants to help you, and will alleviate your anxiety, and your toothache.
4. Visibility – If you lose a tooth and you can’t see it, so what? you might ask. The problem is, not visiting the dentist and getting regular checkups and cleanings will lead to loss of often visible teeth!
5. Fear of the Dentist – A good dentist will care about everything, even the way an anesthetic injection is given. So yes, some fear of the dentist may exist, but a good doctor will help you get over the fear.
6. Busy Schedule – You make time for oil changes, movie night, and food shopping, but visiting a dentist is vital to maintaining your health and worth an hour!
7. Embarrassed about teeth – A good dentist is there to improve your health and your smile, and will not judge your teeth.
8. Fear of Dental Instruments – Modern dentistry done right does not have to be painful. Find a caring doctor and they will do everything to minimize pain and get you to your treatment destination with fears allayed.
That’s it. Please see if any of these reasons are holding you back, and ask, how important is my smile to me? Best wishes – ProDentalFx, LLC
